The Fountaine Pajot Elba 45

Our new home is SV Cooinda. She is a 45 foot long catamaran, a 2020 model Fountaine Pajot Elba. It is Fountaine Pajot’s best ever seller with lead times currently out to two and half years. They are a French private company with manufacturing based in La Rochelle, northern France.

We have no intention of giving sailing lessons here as that is best left to weighty tomes and YouTube specialists. However we thought some may be interested in some of the basics especially as they pertain to our boat, hopefully demystifying some of the magic before coming aboard.

Water Maker

Aquabase YK3 is a 220 V model and makes 180 L fresh water per hour.

Cooking

Cooinda came with a useless ENO BBQ Plancha which is basically a good looking built in BBQ. We upgraded to a Weber gas Q2200 over Christmas 2023.

We upgraded the gas oven and gas cooktop to a Whirlpool Combi Convection Microwave Oven and a Samsung 4 burner induction cook top. So much better but chews the watts!

Most importantly we have a proper Italian espresso machine with internal grinder by Lelit.
